HOW WE WORK

We work in a unique manner. We develop the itineraries, the activities, the adventures, and the learning programs, and then use a network of local companies or local instructors or local leaders/guides to actually lead the travel or activities. These partners that we use share our sensibilities and passion, and are experts in their areas. We also work closely with them, exploiting their extensive local contacts and knowledge to choose the best options along the way.

This way of working has several advantages. Top of these is getting the best of local knowledge and insight; the people we use, especially the outdoor fiends, are intimately familiar with their backyard. These local contacts enable us to get good prices and good service providers, especially in finding the local peasants and guides who possess the right aptitude, and also to secure permits for places that are only open by special arrangement. And, in keeping with our focus on the development of eco-tourism, this way of working is a mutually beneficial: it’s the local inhabitants that get a share of our profits, not someone who lives far away in a city or in a different country.

In most cases, aside from developing the itineraries or programs and then marketing them, we also join the travelling group as tour leaders. This is to ensure that everything is conducted to our standards in terms of service, flavour and depth. Unfortunately, at many of the places we operate, the level of familiarity with our kind of travelling among local tourism service providers is still rather low. Hence we have to keep our hands on at all junctures.

Because of these specialities, we don’t currently organise many tours. Our travels are offbeat and different, and there is only a niche market – in this part of the world – for this kind of travel yet. In some cases we don’t even do scheduled tours, but assemble a few groups every year, and take off at the convenient time for the group and for the weather. We also don’t sell our tours through travel agents in client-based countries. That would detract from our stance of putting forth the kind of personal and special tours we do; we feel that travel agents would be unable to match the right travellers with our type of journeys. Hence we only market directly via this website, and through a network of like-minded travellers who share the same passions and interests, and can find the right clients.

DYNAMIC PRICING & FLEXIBLE ARRANGEMENTS

Our dynamism and flexibility in setting prices goes beyond the falling price per person commensurate with the size of the group. If you are joining us as a group, you and your colleagues can choose the level of luxury and comfort, as well as opt to forego certain other frills, to alter the travel arrangements and price that suits your tastes and budgets. The main choices you can make are: type of vehicle, double or single occupancy in hotel rooms, and class of hotel. The prices given in each individual tour description page is the default choices that we make; if you like to alter any of these arrangements, and hence arrive at a different price (dependent on the travel arrangements and number of people in the group), please write to us to discuss.
