Adventures in West China
We create and lead customised journeys on request for small groups of private travellers in west
China’s geographic frontiers. Our speciality is to design and lead journeys in alternative and emerging
destinations where the travel experience is more exclusive and intimate. We also put value on travel as
learning and discovery: we include outdoor activities, maximise cultural exposure, and travel in an
atmosphere of camaraderie.
Typical itineraries mix natural and cultural activities, as well as iconic attractions. Some of
our trips match travel with relevant artistic endeavours – such as travel photography, watercolour paintings,
and country cookery – and these trips are led and coached by relevant professionals in suitably inspiring
destinations.
Our trips can be short or long. Short trips are intended as weekend getaways (or sidetrips of a
few days’ duration) that can fit within clients’ larger travel plans or engagements. These sidetrips, which
depart from Chengdu, are ideal for business travellers who have a few days to spare and seek to explore
something different – possibilities are outlined in the Weekend Trips section of this website.
Long trips are journeys of longer than five days: such trips are customizable according to the
preferences of each private group (interests, activities, and desired level of natural or cultural ruggedness
are all adjustable). You can find inspiration and theme-packages of long tours in Journey Ideas section of this website.
Occasionally we also partner with other like-minded travel companies or even eminent experts and
jointly organise scheduled itineraries or packages for special-interest groups – these could be bird
watchers, photographers, or rock climbers – and also to organise journeys to other regions in Asia, beyond
our usual stomping ground. Such scheduled events are featured visibly in this website.
Media Commendations
Our journeys have been commended in the Rough Guide to Southwest China
and the Sunday Times Travel Magazine, as well as other media
